The task ahead in Karabakh was titanic. However, Baku understood it must avoid the endless delays of the Balkans or Washington’s $60 billion black hole in Iraq. Azerbaijan won the war.

Could it also win the peace?

When Rasmiya Ahmadova closes her eyes to sleep, on a good night, her mind wanders into the past. Her family’s orchards flourished in those days. She can smell their pomegranate’s sweet and tangy aroma even today.
