Summary
In Jeyhun Abbasov’s opinion, the Karabakh conflict is deeply personal, as his family experienced the pain and loss caused by the First Karabakh War. He recalls that although he did not participate in the war himself due to physical conditions, his older brother and peers were involved in defending Azerbaijan. Abbasov reflects on how the war shaped his family’s history and their ongoing commitment to the country. He mentions that his family lived through the trauma of the conflict and supported the war effort despite the hardships they faced during that period. The lack of strong allies and the limited resources of Azerbaijan at the time made the conflict particularly difficult, but he takes pride in how the country showed resilience and strength.
Abbasov explains that his connection to the conflict extends beyond his family’s experience. As a businessman, he understands that a country's sovereignty and stability are crucial for the success of its economy and businesses. During the 44-day war, Abbasov’s company was one of the first to contribute financial support to Azerbaijan’s Army. He recalls sending material supplies to soldiers on the frontlines.
Abbasov is particularly proud of his company’s involvement in supporting veterans and martyrs’ families. He highlights that his company, Aurora, has taken 60 families of martyrs under its protection, offering financial assistance, educational support for children, and other forms of aid.
Additionally, 12 war veterans and four families of martyrs work within his company. Abbasov believes that it is the responsibility of businesses and citizens to contribute to the well-being of the nation, especially after the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. He stresses that the economic revival of the country should not fall entirely on the government’s shoulders, and businesses must play an active role in rebuilding the nation.
Abbasov also reflects on the strong ties his family had with Heydar Aliyev and the New Azerbaijan Party. His parents, both intellectuals, were early supporters of the party, and Abbasov himself became involved in the political process, participating in the presidential elections and serving as a representative of the New Azerbaijan Party. His company has over a thousand members of the New Azerbaijan Party, and Abbasov is the chairman of the organization’s unit within the company.
Discussing his involvement with the Karabakh Revival Fund, Abbasov explains that he chose to support the fund because of its transparency. He shares his excitement about the future, mentioning a project to help with the planting of trees in Fuzuli, a liberated district, as part of the fund’s broader efforts to restore the region.
Abbasov concludes by emphasizing the importance of maintaining strong values of patriotism, corporate social responsibility, and unity as Azerbaijan moves forward. He expresses pride in the country’s achievements, particularly the victory in the Second Karabakh War, and remains committed to supporting the ongoing restoration and development of the liberated territories.
